General Casey and US Ambassador Khalilzad yesterday announced the possibility of benchmarks toward withdrawal in the next 18 months.

The Prime Minister of Iraq said that he had not been consulted.
"No one has the right to impose a timetable" on his people, Maliki said. These benchmarks were "the result of elections taking place right now".
