Muslims in space!

Anousheh Ansari went into space this morning aboard the Soyuz, becoming the first woman to pay for a ride into space.
Ansari moved from Iran to the U.S. at 16. She spoke no English. She received her master's degree in electrical engineering from George Washington University.
Ansari convinced her husband to leave jobs at MCI to start telecom technologies, inc., which they sold to Sonus Networks for a reported $550 million in stock in 2000. She is currently chairman of Prodea Systems, Inc.

The $10 million Ansari X-Prize went to Burt Rutan's Scaled Composites crew that put SpaceShipOne, the first private flight, into space.
